It is a family owned business set in 150 acres of beautiful Waterford countryside. In the beginning the farm was centred around the production of beef and dairy cattle with greyhound racing and breeding very much a small scale hobby.
Things started to change when Droopys Jaguar was sold to Frazer Black before the Produce Stakes and went on to win the final in 1987, from there the 'dog count' went up steadily with another brood bitch joining the team, her name was Droopys Fergie and was to become the foundation of the Droopys dynasty.
Fergie was bought at fifteen months old and went on to win the St Leger at Enniscorthy, the English Puppy Oaks and the English Oaks. Amongst the champions Fergie produced was Droopys Vieri who was sold but later returned to Balyvalican for his stud career.
The stud dogs have now increased greatly and legends such as Westmead Hawk, Droopys Kewell, Droopys Maldini and Droopys Vieri among others have taken over the mantle and look sure to keep The Droopys Stud at the very top for years to come.
